MCP Tools

The tools the Presscart MCP server exposes, whether each one reads or writes, and which actions stay in the Presscart app.

This page lists every tool on the Presscart MCP server at https://mcp.presscart.com/mcp. To connect a client first, see MCP Server.

The server exposes 54 tools. Your client discovers them automatically with the standard MCP tools/list request, so you do not configure them individually.

How to read the tables

AccessMeaning
ReadOnly reads data. Marked read-only in the tool metadata.
WriteCreates or changes data.
Write (destructive)Archives, deletes, or replaces data. Marked destructive in the tool metadata.

Most tools take a team_slug. Tools that create orders or campaigns, or read a profile's orders, take a profile_id. If you do not know them, the assistant calls list_teams and then list_profiles.

Publisher tools are meant for teams with publisher access. The Presscart API enforces this on its product, outlet, and publisher-article routes.

Actions that stay in the app

The MCP server has no tools for these actions, so an assistant cannot perform them. Do them in the Presscart app:

  • Approving a content brief or a draft.
  • Publisher decisions: approving publishing, requesting a revision, requesting more information, or rejecting a submission.
  • Deleting user accounts.
  • Inviting team members.

Two related tools do exist. submit_article can mark a draft ready for review or move an article to pending publishing, and create_order creates a checkout order but does not pay it: the buyer pays through the returned checkout_link. The tool descriptions tell the assistant to run submit_article only after you confirm and to confirm before destructive actions. This is guidance to the assistant, not a check the server enforces, so review what your assistant is about to do.

Where this list comes from

The tools are defined in the src/tools/ directory of the Presscart/presscart-mcp repository, one registerTool call per tool. Read and write labels come from the annotations in src/tools/metadata.ts. This page was written from that source on 2026-10-21 (commit 792109b). When a tool is added or changed there, update this page.
